National Grid provides a number of incentives for Air and Ground Source Heat pumps.

Desuperheater – A desuperheater is known as a secondary heat exchanger device that transfers heat efficiently from the earth in the winter season and from your house in the summer, into your domestic hot water tank.

Financing Through NYSERDA​

There are low interest financing options available for between $1,500-$25,000 with loan terms of 5, 10 or 15 years.

Incentives for Low-Moderate Income Households

NYSERDA has announced a limited time offer for HEAP recipients to receive funds for heat pumps and other weatherization work, ending September 30th, 2022. Contact us for more information, or if you think you might qualify!

  • Heat Pump Demonstration Study
    • For households that qualify for Empower or Assisted Home Performance programs.
    • Household must use oil, propane, kerosene or electricity for heating
    • This program offers additional incentives for income qualified households to install air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps or heat pump water heaters.
    • There is some funding for electricity panel upgrades as part of this program.
    • Your home must be insulated to install the air source or ground source heat pump. If its not, Empower and Assisted Home Performance incentives may available.

If you are thinking about energy efficiency upgrades and installing new heating and cooling systems in your private and commercial buildings, there are incentives or financial supports that may be available that you. While some require certain income level for anyone to qualify, others are for market-rate households. Many require your installers to help with the application for these incentives, but you may have to apply for utility rebates on your own.

EmPower New York

EmPower New York provides no-cost energy efficiency solutions to income-eligible New Yorkers. EmPower will cover 100% of the costs for energy efficiency upgrades like air sealing and insulation, up to $8000, for households that are at 60% or less of the state median income.  If you qualify for HEAP, you qualify for this.

Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star

The Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program makes it easy and affordable to make the smart investment in a more energy-efficient home, helping income-eligible homeowners across the State lower their energy bills and live more comfortably all year long.

It provides those who qualify with a discount covering 50% of the cost of eligible energy efficiency improvements up to $5,000 per project for single-family homes. Two- to four-unit residential homes with income-eligible residents may qualify for a discount of up to $10,000.

Energy assessments may be free depending on eligibility and contractor.

  3. Note that the free offering will vary by contractor, so if you decide to do this, make sure you speak with the contractor to clearly identify the no cost option.

We have partnered with Capital Heat and Buffalo Geothermal Heating.

Incentive Forms – In most cases, the installer will take care of these forms and include the incentive into your contract. If you are installing a Heat Pump Water Heater yourself or with a contractor that is not a NYS Clean Heat Contractor, use these forms to submit for the incentive.
