Free Energy Assessment
A free energy assessment can help you learn how insulation and air sealing can help make your home more comfortable and less expensive to heat. Single family homes and multifamily homes up to four unit are eligible.
How can energy efficiency and weatherization help you?
Your heating and cooling system can only be as efficient as your home. The parts of your home that separate you from the outdoors is known as the “building envelope”. The building envelope includes the roof, foundation, walls, windows and doors of your home.
Air leaks reduce the efficiency of the heating and cooling systems in the home. Air leaks can be large or small and often go unnoticed and unattended. These leaks may be found wherever there are openings to the outside, such as around windows and doors, places where plumbing and electrical go through walls and any areas that require sealant.
Insulating and air sealing your home can be done to prepare your home for a heat pump, or just to make your home more comfortable and less expensive to heat.

Want to learn about available weatherization programs?
There are many programs from NYSERDA that can help homeowners and renters make their home more energy efficient. Their community energy advisors want to help you learn about your home and how these programs can help. Call 716-886-1780 ext. 706 or email pushgreen@pushbuffalo.org today!
When thinking about improving your building envelope, you want to consider air sealing and insulation. Air sealing and insulation will:
- Reduce the amount of heating and cooling needed in your home, which helps reduce cost!
- Make drafty areas comfortable. Many of us have certain places in our homes that are colder or warmer than the rest of the home. Often times, these are places where insulation might be missing, or there is a lot of air leakage.
- Can help with issues involving condensation and moisture.
- Reduces the ways for pollutants and pollen from outside to get in your home.
